The Jeff Williams Scholarship

Former chair of the Jeff Williams Scholarship Committee, Will Browder tsu90 (left), stands with Jeff Williams Scholarship award recipient Josh Sefchek tsu01

To recognize and stimulate the characteristics essential in a Brother of Triangle Fraternity, the Tri-State chapter created an annual scholarship in memory of Brother Jeff Williams tsu97. Jeff represented and encouraged the qualities of a Triangle Brother while helping to build and preserve the traditions of the Fraternity. This award honors not only the recipient, but it also serves as a tribute to Jeff himself.

Jeff became a Brother of Triangle Fraternity during the spring of 1997. His decision to join Triangle was based on his friendships with the Brothers, the prospect of new opportunities for personal growth, and the desire to be a part of the Fraternity's strong tradition of excellence.

The Brothers remember Jeff as a generous and compassionate person. His positive attitude and willingness to take the extra step helped him in his roles as chapter secretary and pledge educator. Jeff was also a member of the university's track and cross country teams and he served as chapter treasurer of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Jeff was an above average student and a double major who maintained a grade point average around 3.0.  Jeff received his Associates degree for Drafting and Design and would have graduated in December 1998 with a degree in CAD/CAM.  Jeff balanced his studies with a healthy social life. He enjoyed running and swimming, and he was engaged to his high school sweetheart.

The scholarship is awarded every spring in conjunction with the annual alumni pig roast. A certificate is presented to the recipient, and his name is added to a plaque displayed in the chapter house. A check is deposited in the recipient's Tri-State University business account where it can be used toward tuition and/or room and board fees.

Tim and Marla Tim Williams

Marla Williams

Tim and Marla Williams have been the Jeff Williams Scholarship's biggest supporters, donating $1000 annually to the fund. Chapter alumni also contribute to the fund during our annual donation request in February.

Jeff's mother Marla passed away on January 31, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. We would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Williams family. The family has asked that any memorials be made to the Jeff Williams Scholarship. Checks payable to Triangle Fraternity may be sent to:
